The North County Arcade Grand Opening!
Congratulations to our entire third grade for a spectacularly successful grand opening. Guests were enthralled by their designs. Our community did indeed gather to play games and have fun, perhaps even making new friends while playing together. The following is a slide show of the event, as well as the students' individual reflections on the project.
The purpose of this project is to have a exhibition so we can have a big community and they can be friends and also so they can have a lot of fun in our exhibition and they can look around the arcade games. It was fun because we made our arcade games look pretty with paint. It was challenging when we connected the makey makey to our arcade games because we didn’t agree on the things we wanted to do. I learned that when you are going to do a prototype you need to design it first.
The purpose of this project is to bring families and friends together to be happy and bring back memories of the first time they played an arcade game. In this project it was fun making prizes because if you are playing the game and you win, of course you have to win a prize and to feel proud about yourself and maybe little kind and give it to your sibling. Also it was fun to survey the high schoolers because they reminded me of my high school buddy from last year. My high school buddy was really nice so that made me happy. What was challenging was connecting the makey makey to my game because we needed to know where it had to go and so many wires stuck out of the game and how to program it. It was the hardest things to do in this project and with my group. I learned that if you are making something you should always plan it out on paper and make four or three drafts. When you are done with your drafts, you need to make a prototype. A prototype is a small version at what you are going to build and doing it in real life and using your hands to put the things everywhere.
In this project we have been doing great things. Something that was hard was finishing the code for our makey-makey because we had to be exact with where to put everything. We dealt with the problem by thinking about and finding a way to unscramble the code. Another thing that was hard was being very very careful with painting because you don't want to make a mistake. We dealt with it by trying our best to make it better. Also another thing that was hard was connecting the Makey Makeys to the arcade game because we had precise ideas (where needed to be) with what we are doing that makes it hard. We dealt with it by going back and making it better. We did measurement specs that were very hard because we had to be exact with the measurements. We handled it by checking and making sure we got the right answer. Working in groups has been pretty hard in this project because you have to make sure that they are not clueless on what you are doing. We dealt with it by compromising so we understood each other. In the project something that was hard was building prototypes and real games because you try so hard on your prototypes and you want to make your real game better. That is hard because you are doing the same thing but so so much bigger than it use to be. We dealt with it by going back and fixing the problems. Something that has been fun in this project is getting to make a prototype out of cardboard because not a lot of people make an arcade out of cardboard. Another thing that has been fun in the project is painting our prototypes, because we got to paint and it was all our idea. Another thing that was fun was building our arcade game because I got to do the thing I love and do it with my friends. Something that I learned was there is so much math in building. Another thing I learned in this project is measuring I never knew how to get exactly the right answer. I also learned you don't have to always compromise. The purpose of building our arcade games is to build our community. We are doing that by using Scratch, Makey-Makeys and cardboard. We have the best project ever!
The purpose for building our arcade game is to build our community. The thing that was challenging was working in a group and building our prototype and building our big game. The thing that I learned was how to use the makey makey and scratch. The fun thing was building our arcade game with my group even though it was hard to build our arcade game.
What was fun in this project was putting Makey Makeys in our game. It was challenging because when I was wiring the motor it did not have enough power for the solar panel. I learned how to code on Scratch and connect Makey Makeys!
The purpose of this project is to build our community. Something that was challenging was writing the game rules, because it was hard to focus when everyone was using the same document at once. Something fun was building the arcade games because we got to put things together. Something that I learned was to use a Makey Makey.
In this project the purpose of it was to build and bring together our community by letting them play our arcade games and becoming friends. There were challenges we had to face and 3 of the challenges for me were making our game designs because it was hard for our group to decide what our group wanted our game to look like. And it was hard coming up with a game name. We dealt with it by persevering and thinking hard to get through and we did it. The last but not least challenge was painting. It was hard because we wanted to get it done and we rushed through it and we got past it by taking our time and making it look good. 5 things that were fun for me were: #1, Painting our game- it was fun because I got to be a part of making our game beautiful! #2 Building our prototype- it was fun because it was exciting to create a draft of a whole arcade game! #3 Making the coding- it was fun because I got to find out how arcade games work behind the scenes and exploring how arcade games work. #4 Something else that was fun was writing my personal narrative that was fun because I got to think of a time I played and turned it into a whole story and now it is a great story! #5 And last but not least was making our measuring SPECS- it was fun because we got to build our game on google drawings it was also fun because we got to decide on the paint colors! 3 things that I learned in this project was #1,Connecting the Makey Makey it was cool to learn because now if I wanted to I could go make another arcade if I wanted to because I learned how! #2,Learned how to measure on a ruler correctly for example, there is a little space on the beginning of a ruler and I learned you have to not use that little space or it’s not accurate. #3 how to make a DP it was cool to learn because now I have my own website!
Our purpose of building our arcade games is we want to help build our community. Something fun this year was painting my game because I got to make money signs on our game and paint our sign red and the game blue. Something challenging was connecting the Makey Makey to our game because I did not know how to program. Something I learned was connecting the Makey Makey to my game.
The purpose of our arcade game was to build a community and to be creative! The fun thing was painting our arcade so it looks cool! I learned how to use the Makey Makey! The challenging part was making the ramp because I had to make it so the ball will go into the hole.
We built our game to build our community. I like to paint my game because I like art. I had trouble connecting the Makey Makey to my game because the wires were hard to use. I learned how to program in Scratch.
The purpose of this project was to build our community and include everyone in our arcade. Making the tickets was challenging because I did not know how to spell tickets. Cutting the holes was fun because I made frisbees. I learned that working in a group is very hard.I also learned how to make a cut holes.
We built arcade game out of cardboard to help build our community. I like making prizes because I like building.Merrick
We built arcade games out of cardboard to help build our community and get people together to make friends. I like people to be happy and that was fun about this project. It was fun using Makey Makeys to make sound. The challenging thing was when we made our game. I learned how to connect the Makey Makeys.
The purpose of this project is to build our community so people can make friends at our arcade and have fun playing our arcade games. What was fun about this project was connecting the makey makey to our games and building prototypes. What was challenging about this project was deciding about the game design and painting our games. I learned how to build a handmade arcade game out of cardboard and using makey makey and scratch.
We built our arcade games of cardboard to help build our community and make friends. It was fun because we connected lights to our games and made prizes. It was hard when we surveyed the high school because they are people that I never met, but I did it anyway. I learned about building our prototyped and connecting makey makeys.
The purpose of building these arcade games is to build our community and bring people together to have fun. Something fun was painting our game because we cooperated well and we figured out how to be efficient with the paint. Something challenging is working with my partner because we didn't always agree on what the game should be like. For example when we made our specs we didn’t agree on what color part of the game should but we agreed on doing my idea and now it looks pretty good. In this project I learned about and used Scratch & Makey Makeys. I also learned about working in groups that if you don’t agree with something you don’t have to be afraid to disagree.
We built arcade games because we wanted to build our community and to make friends. We care about the community because we like to help and to care. It was fun when we painted our game because we got to make it colorful for exhibition. It was challenging when me and my group had to paint our game because we had a hard time picking out the colors. I learned how to do the program on the computer.
The purpose of this project was to build our community. It was fun to program on Scratch. It was challenging to make the big arcade games, because the ramp and tube was difficult to build. I learned how to connect motors and Makey Makeys.
We built arcades to make new friends. We built prototypes and put makey makeys on it and connect it to the computer. We used scratch to add sound.
We built our Arcade Games to help build our community. What was fun in this Arcade project was we got to BUILD A LOT and we got to do Google drawings. Writing our rules was challenging because our group was NOT used to Google Drawings. What I learned was to do SCRUM because I NEVER knew about it. It help us build by organizing our tasks.
We built arcade games out of cardboard to help build our community, bring everybody together, and bring joy. I care about our community because the way I treat them is the way they treat me. They help us so I want to help them. Something that was fun was making prizes because I got to create and build things. Something that was challenging was working with my group because they wouldn’t listen to me. I learned that asking nicely lets my group members know how I am feeling.
We did this project to help build our community by bringing our families together at exhibition to get all third grades families to meet each other Working in groups was challenging because me and andrew disagreed a lot. We fixed the problem by making a good deal by saying who does what and why based on our different talents. Painting our arcade games was also hard because the paint was too wet and it was taking off some paint. We solved our problem by using less water and more paint. Making prototypes was fun because we got to test our game to make our real arcade game better and I also like building. Building real arcade games was also fun because I waited a long time for it and it was more building. I learned how to connect the button to the makey makey. I’ve also learned how to make an arcade game.
